Picking the Best Water Bottle for You: Will use glass over plastic, steel or copper?

It may seem like a trivial issue though staying hydrated has become such an essential part of life; we really need to select which water bottler will work for us best. This article, I’m here to deconstruct pros and cons of various materials that can become your best buddy in your journey to stay hydrated.

I will begin with the old fashioned glass bottles.

Glass Bottles: Pure and Sturdy but Heavy

I like glass because it does not interfere with the taste and pureness of water at all. No weird chemical leaching here! Also, it won’t retain any smells or tastes so that your water is clear and crisp. Firstly, it is also economical and environmentally friendly due to glass being easily recycled.

However, glass bottles are fragile and break easily when dropped. These are not good for hiking or other adventures! They are also heavy, meaning they can’t be carried easily throughout of the day.

Plastic Bottles: Lightweight yet Worrying

No doubt about it, plastic water bottles are super lightweight and easy to carry. They won't shatter if you drop them either. You can find affordable ones pretty easily too.

But I have some reservations about plastic. Over time, especially if exposed to heat, plastic can leach icky chemicals into your water. And we all know the environmental issues of single-use plastic waste. Not awesome.

Steel Bottles: Durable Insulated Champs

If durability is your top concern, look no further than stainless steel bottles. These are practically indestructible and won't dent or crack. Many come vacuum sealed for excellent temperature insulation too, keeping water cold for hours. And steel is endlessly recyclable.

The only potential drawback is that steel can be on the heavier side compared to plastic. But for me, the pros of steel outweigh the cons.

Copper Bottles: Pretty and Protective but Pricey

Copper bottles have a beautiful warm aesthetic that feels ultra-luxurious. The copper is naturally antimicrobial too, helping prevent nasty bacteria. These bottles are also super durable and resistant to corrosion.

However, copper tends to be one of the pricier options out there. The material also requires regular cleaning and maintenance to keep its luster.

For me, stainless steel hits the sweet spot of durability, temperature insulation, low weight, and recyclability. But choose what fits your priorities and style! The most important thing is staying hydrated with a bottle you love.

Let me know which water bottle you prefer and why! I geek out over this stuff.
